Welcome To
The Hare & Hounds Hotel

As seen on BBC TV's Great British Railway JAs seen onTV - BBC Great Railway Journeysourneys!

Our privately owned Coaching Hotel, located on the outskirts of Newbury, has continued to offer bed & breakfast and a warm welcoming bar & restaurant for over 250 years.

Since 2005 the inn has been family owned and run by Jonathan & Jean Nelsey. During this time substantial investment has transformed “The Hare” into a modern hotel, restaurant & bar, whilst retaining its unique olde world charm. e

Our modern quality
accommodation of 30 en suite bedrooms is found both in the main Inn and around our gardens, and extensive free car park.

Our restaurant and bar retain the charm of our inn, and will be joined in early 2015 by "The Barn", our purpose built restaurant and wedding venue.

Visiting Newbury, Hungerford, or West Berkshire, for business or leisure, you will be hard pressed to find a friendlier welcome. Ideal for Highclere Castle, yes "Downton Abbey" is 5 minutes away!, Hungerford, Reading,A34, M4, Windsor and Ascot. Our accommodation is well situated for Thatcham and Newbury business parks, and Vodafone Headquarters.

We are pleased to continue this great tradition of Innkeeping in Newbury and to rated so highly on review websites. Our relaxed but professional service offers a true home from home.

We hope to be able to welcome you soon!!

"Hare today and Tomorrow!!"

If you're lucky enough to be en-route to Southampton, the Hare and Hounds makes a very pleasant and affordable stopping-off point! Well-laid out around a spacious car park, with some ground-floor rooms for the less athletic!
Clean and well appointed with very friendly owners. The restaurant is too handy and too good to go elsewhere to eat....which is always a bonus. We'll definitely be returning!
