Drink at
The Hare & Hounds

“Work is the curse of the drinking classes”
As that great British ale drinker, Oscar Wilde would tell us!

Following an extensive refurbishment in January 2015, we now have a new lounge area, wooden floored modern bar with tall drinking tables and our new "Library", complete with real fire. All this adds to the great pub that was enjoyed by Michael Portillo when he stayed overnight and featured our lovely inn on BBC 2 TV's Great British Railway Journeys. Jonathan appeared in series 3, episode 5, thank you for all the kind comments, which was most of them!

Either way, relaxing in a friendly  “pub” bar is a Great British tradition. Enjoy a pint of local Ale from West Berkshire Brewery, or a weekly changing guest ale chosen to tempt.

If wine is your tipple we have an extensive choice following a recent memorable trip to a wine fair, watch for Jean’s favourite a sparkling rose from southern Italy, or Jonathan’s personal favourites a crianza Rioja and Pinot Noir from New Zealand.
