Hello, and welcome to a whole new era for The Hare and Hounds Hotel at Speen, Newbury. Recently purchased by Jonathan & Jean Nelsey, this historic hotel is now receiving the style of care and attention which only comes from private owners who understand both the hotel and its customers. 
 
With seasonally changing menus, for both lunch and dinner, using only the freshest locally sourced ingredients, it’s no surprise that our food is proving so popular with both locals and guests. The whole hotel has been refurbished, yes bar, restaurant and all 30 bedrooms. All the changes reflect the freshness of our approach in tandem with the history of this Olde Coaching Inn. No chintz, just tradition and style, to marry with the food and service of a professional hotel, quality restaurant, and relaxing bar. So why choose us? The final act was to introduce the new Pub Sign which we did in May this year I have had a world renowned cartoon artist put a modern twist to the traditions of the inn and it’s name. I hope you’ll like the finished article, I think we have a truly traditional pub sign that will also put a smile on the face. I can’t wait to hear people’s thoughts…. I think! 
 
Having successfully run my own businesses for over 12 years, I have relished the challenge of “The Hare” so far. With Debbie and Shaun assisting, Jean and I look forward to being part of Speen for a long time. We'd all be proud to welcome you, your colleagues and friends to our home, whether it’s a meal, a drink or just a look round, feel free to pop in.
